We’re not living in the camper anymore! We’re also not living in our house yet, either. With the way things have gone so far, did anyone actually believe we would be moving into our house this past weekend?
The quick rundown is this: the sellers still can’t move out, but we decided it would be in everyone’s best interest to get out of the campground. As of this past Sunday we are staying at an Airbnb, and will be here until our house is ready. We were told 7 to 10 days. We’ll see about that.
This Airbnb is absolutely adorable. It’s in the country and has lots of history attached to it, as it’s one of the Cumberland Homestead houses. While it added another step to come here instead of just waiting it out at the campground, we definitely needed a breath of fresh air and some privacy. A little house on a beautiful property has been better for all of us. There’s a huge yard, real beds, and laundry on site. We really couldn’t ask for more.
The only downside to this is that we had just picked up our rescue dog, Odin, on Saturday morning. Everything was still kind of up in the air at that point, but once we were sure we weren’t getting into our house, we needed to find a place to board him. (No pets at the Airbnb.) So we had a dog for about 24 hours, and then dropped him off at doggy school nearby. Hopefully he learns something while he’s there!
This whole summer has been such a whirlwind. I can’t believe we’re halfway through August already. I don’t necessarily feel like the summer was wasted, because we have done a lot of fun stuff, but I had so many plans that it’s hard not to be a little disappointed. Disappointed that it’s all taking so long, that nothing has gone the way it was supposed to, that I need to constantly explain our changing situation to friends and family. I think I’m really just tuckered out. I’ve been telling myself we’re “almost there” for months now, and it’s getting to be exhausting. I’m so ready to have a home again.
