Y’all. We just might lose the house. We have about a one in a million chance of actually getting it at this point- less than two weeks away from when we should be closing. It’s been a stressful week of phone calls and emails back and forth between us, our broker, our realtor, the seller’s realtor… Long story short, no one wants to give us a mortgage because my husband hasn’t been with his current company for an acceptable amount of time. It is beyond frustrating.
I know things like this happen all the time, and that there are always more homes available, maybe even something better, but it’s still hard to process. This house has been the end goal for me for weeks. Reminding myself how far we’ve come, and how close we are to being in a house again has gotten me through some of the worst days. We’ve told all our friends and family where we’re headed. We’ve shared pictures. I’ve planned a garden, mentally renovated each room, and I think my son even has the address memorized already. Now we are quite possibly back at square one, and will need to rent for a while before we can start looking at more properties again.
In addition to the whirlwind that this current week has been, the last couple weeks were also crazy. We had an entire week of rainy days and thunderstorms, and the kids and I all came down with a nasty, lingering head cold. After staying inside and doing nothing but coloring, watching Paw Patrol (if and when the internet decided to work), and wiping boogers for over a week, the air conditioning unit in the camper decided to kick the bucket. Of course, this happened just as the rain went away and the summer heat came back in full swing. The temperature has been in the mid 80’s almost every day. Thankfully, we’re all feeling much better and have been able to spend our days at the local splash pad and the campground pool.
By the way, I’ve been meaning to write a new blog post for a couple weeks now, but between the campground internet being impossibly slow and then being sick, it just didn’t happen. Hopefully wherever we end up, we’ll at least have good internet access so I can keep writing. But even if it takes two hours to write, I will most definitely post an update when we hear the final decision on the house.
In the meantime, the kids and I are headed to the pool to enjoy some sunshine and cool down a bit. Stay tuned!
