End of the Year Check-In: 2021

The end of the year always sneaks up on me. The year seems to drag on and on, then BAM! it’s somehow New Year’s Eve already.

2021 was a such big year for us. Lots of endings and goodbyes, and tons of fresh starts. Our super-simplified year went something like this:

• January: Start and finish a bathroom renovation. Get our house ready to put on the market.

• February: List our house. Sell it in 5 days.

• March: Find our Tennessee property online, put in an offer sight-unseen. Make a quick weekend trip to Tennessee. Fall in love with the south.

• April: Pack up our NY house.

• May: Move to a campground in TN. The truck’s transmission dies. Visit lots of waterfalls and other cool places.

• June: Camper A/C breaks during the hottest week of the year. Closing date gets moved again, and then we almost lose the house completely.

• July: A/C in my car dies. Take a trip to NY to get all our stuff out of storage. Put it back into storage here because we still aren’t in our house. Adopt a rescue dog.

• August: Move from the campground to an Airbnb house. Finally move into our house at the end of the month.

• September: Get chickens. Install new flooring.

• October: Officially close on the house. Start renovating the living room.

• November: Finish the living room. Dig up stumps.

• December: Get piggies. Christmas.

It’s amazing to look back and see just how much can happen in one year. I’m so excited to see what the coming year brings for our family, our farm, and the blog.
